Board of Directors and Credit Commitee

Doug Veitch

Chairman

Morag Cherry - Director

Edinburgh Napier University, External Projects Officer

I have worked in the Higher Education sector for 15 years and throughout have been active in the trade union movement.  I was previously Chair of the Edinburgh Napier Unison branch; I have been the Branch Welfare Officer for five years and am no acting as brand treasurer.

I have been a member of SUCB for several years and recently volunteered to become a director; hopefully, this be ratified at the next AGM.  I feel my union activism fits well with my SUCB activity and reflects my principles and attitudes.

Derek William Penman

Director / Money Laundering Report Officer

Derek has been a Director at FSUCU/SUCB since 2017 and a member since 2010.

Derek retired in 2021 after 40+ years working at the University of Edinburgh and Heriot-Watt University. He began his career as a biology technician before moving into business administration and technical management. A major part of this work was project management, budget planning and financial control.

“I discovered the Credit Union after a large repair cost and decided to save for the next unexpected bill. Saving by payroll deduction with the Credit Union was simple and easy, and access to fair and affordable loans when required was very reassuring.”

Phil Rowsby - Director & Secretary

Heriot-Watt University, Secretariat Operations Team Manager

Phil has been the Secretary of SUCB for several years and is also the Vice-Chair of an Edinburgh-based Housing Association.

In his day job he manages the Secretariat Team and supports senior leaders in preparing for meetings; taking minutes; and preparing agendas – a bit like his role for SUCB!

In his spare time, Phil enjoys walking in the Pentland hills near his home, cycling and going on as many holidays as possible.
